“Matinee”
The Meaning
The theater, a place to lose ourselves in the magic of the moment. Movement sound, sometimes accompanying dance and music, and a story unfolding before us as we get drawn into the mist of pretend. I love the theater, especially matinees because going to the theater in the early afternoon leaves plenty of time to explore what I experienced while the day is still unfolding.
In the painting, objects on and around the stage represent an imaginative set that is meant to create an atmosphere for what will be presented on the stage as we let reality go and hold closer to the fantasy.
